{"id":394,"date":"2013-10-17T17:56:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-17T21:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.markallenstaples.com\/?p=394"},"modified":"2014-01-02T10:12:31","modified_gmt":"2014-01-02T15:12:31","slug":"changes-facing-higher-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.markallenstaples.com\/2013\/10\/17\/changes-facing-higher-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes Facing Higher Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When considering the changes facing traditional higher education due to a shrinking demographic of the 18-22 year old student, rising costs, burgeoning student debt, and the increasing presence and success of online programs, we should consider reviewing the basic change concepts advanced by a few of the classic books like &#8220;My Iceberg is Melting, &#8220;Who Moved My Cheese,&#8221; and &#8220;Good to Great.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 1998, Peter Drucker predicted that higher education would become obsolete within twenty-five years, largely because technological advances would transfer learning to other places besides the classroom.
